DIY Lush Ocean Salt Scrub Facial Friday #36

DIY Lush Ocean Salt Scrub

I am back this week with a DIY Lush Ocean Salt Scrub.  I was not going to post this week, due to some recent changes.  It is not that I am down about it.  This is more of changes I have to make, but change is good and with every change is an opportunity of growth.  I have been through many things in life that would keep someone down, but I am a fighter for my well being.  I recently did a detox plan that revealed way more than what I expected to gain from it.  I am excited for the future and the changes necessary to maintain my health and to share them with you!

This mask is my version of Lush’s Ocean Salt Scrub.  This was the very first product I purchased from Lush.  I was so excited and it was literally all I could afford.  My sister in law and I drove pretty far away on a business trip for her salon. I was lucky one of our stops included a mall with a Lush store. I of course fell in love with Lush.  This product was safe to use on the face, but being the sensitive skinned woman I am, I remember I did not absolutely fall for this as a face product but for my body it was amazing.

DIY Ocean Salt Scrub

2 Tablespoons Fine Ground Salt (organic from the sea)

1 Tablespoon Raw Avocado

1/2 Teaspoon Glycerine

1/4 Teaspoon Spirulina

1/4 Teaspoon Fresh Lime Juice

1 Drop Lavender Essential Oil

1 Drop Grapefruit Essential Oil

Combine all the ingredients well and wear on face no more than three to five minutes.  To remove use wet hands and start scrubbing in extremely gentle circular motions.  For more details on the steps follow the pictures below!

This Celtic Sea salt reminds me of moist sand.  It is hand harvested and dried by the sun and wind.  I know this because it says so on the package hehe.  This is the most recommended salt to consume due to its high content of trace minerals.  I believe even higher than pink salt.  I have been using this salt for years.  Even when we could not afford it, at the time, my dear husband let me purchase these salts because I was, and still am obsessed with our health maintenance. I know it is just salt but I am telling you every single granule of anything that goes into your body counts.  It will show up on your face, clothes and every where that matters most.  Invest in yourself and do not give two fucks about what any one says.  Be healthy!

We had tacos for dinner today so I took my other half and used a tablespoon for my scrub and the rest I combined with honey a hair and scalp mask.

I mashed the avocado into the salt really well before adding any other ingredients.  This will obviously look super green compared to the ocean blue of Lush Ocean Salt scrub.

Here I added the spiralina, and essential oils.  About essential oils, and as part of being an aromatherapist, I must warn that using outdated essential oils can cause more harm than good.   Citrus oils do not have a very long shelf life, Only one year, and both of these oils will cause photo sensitivity.  Do not use this and then pop out for a stroll in the sun.  Unless you want to get some serious sun burns.  Do like me and use this at night.  When every one is in bed and I have the whole house to myself to take a bath, facial, and watch reality tv.  Thanks to my sister in law I now cannot stop watching The Real Housewives.  I am not sure why, but it is just so interesting at the moment.

I gave this scrub a little squeeze of some fresh lime, also from our tacos haha.  Then stirred all the ingredients together very well.

This looks nothing like Lush Ocean Salt scrub but I was happy with the outcome. This scrub smelled like fruity pebbles and that alone makes me so happy!

Smear a thin layer over your face and with moistened hands rub in circular motions ever so lightly.  Very, very, lightly rub and avoid the eye area altogether.

I love how this turned out, the glycerine and avocado were enough to keep that slick moisturized feeling to the skin after rinsing with warm water.  I added moisturizer and eye cream and off to my next project and homework I go.

As always Thank you for stopping by and have a super weekend!
