Pineapple Coconut Sugar Scrub Facial Friday #39
It is the first Facial Friday of the summer! What better way to start the season then with the iconic summer fruit. I have created another scrub and this one is going to remind you of pina coladas; all while making your skin feel smooth and look glowing. This homemade Pineapple Coconut Sugar Scrub is the perfect treatment to pair with your favorite highlighters to really shine in the sunlight.
Pineapple Coconut Sugar Scrub Ingredients
2-3 Tablespoons Pineapple Puree
I started by combining the dry ingredients first. Then I pureed the pineapple and added a couple tablespoons. Pineapple gets super foamy when you puree it. I poured in the coconut milk and stirred it all together. This made a gritty yet foamy texture. I used a small bamboo spatula to smear it all over my face. Wear this for 5 – 10 minutes and then while removing or before removing work the scrub into skin a little bit and then rinse off.
Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain. It is a great anti-inflammatory that can reduce redness and swelling. Those with acne may benefit from this. I added coconut sugar to give the mask some mild scrubbing texture and rice flour for mild exfoliation. Rice is awesome for making the complexion appear brighter. I have been testing products and I used a manual micro-exfoliant. It sort of made me break out in some places, and cut my face in places along my chin.
Sugar scrubs have always worked best for me. Some may question using sugar because it can also be jagged and potentially cut you. While that is true; sugar does also dissolve when there is a liquid combined. If you are scrubbing your skin like a mad person then yes, you will harm your skin. But if you are using sugar scrubs in a gentle manner, I can assure you, it is the best way to go.
I just realized I did not photograph the end result of the mask. I ended up throwing in the rest of the pineapple puree to use as a body treatment later tonight. My body needs loving as well! Here is my skincare makeshift pineapple. I should have placed the green bowl at the bottom but there will be more time soon for those details. For now enjoy my attempt.
I am over here staring at my cup of tea thinking, why did I have to set you so far away? Also, I have a new camera and lights so if stuff looks fuzzy or different, that is why. I also attempted to redo my makeshift pineapple and this is what I did. The center cup is the mask.
Thanks for checking out the first facial of the summer. Have a great weekend and peace be with you!
