Superfruit Antioxidant Clay Mask | Facial Friday #40

Superfruit Antioxidant Clay Mask

We have ventured north for the week to our families’ cottage.  It Is our mid-year break away from work and society.  We have no other choice but to take a full break because there is no wi-fi or phone tower reception.  At first, I loathed this break and now I find myself hardly able to wait for it. We sit here relaxing from our everyday grind while in celebration of our nations independence.  It is something I greatly appreciate, but find myself wanting personal independence on a more day-to-day basis. Hopefully this clay mask will help give me an escape for a minute.

While out here I am still thinking about work, and I am still working on school work.  While I do not have the distraction of electronics, I still have to find ways to shut down my mind to relax.  For me, that is creating.   Since we would be gone for some time I made sure to equip myself with some ingredients to make skin care.  I found superfood powders at the health grocers and have been wanting to experiment with them.

Superfruit Antioxidant Clay Mask

2 Tablespoons French Pink Clay

1 Teaspoon Pomegranate Powder

1 Teaspoon Acai Powder

1 Teaspoon Goji Powder

Combine all of these ingredients well.  I use about 1 teaspoon at a time and add drops of water until it makes a paste.  Smooth the paste over your face and wear for 10-15 minutes.

The French pink clay is a mild exfoliating clay that will not leave skin dry but will still provide the good clay properties like drawing out impurities from the skin.  Due to my current resources on gathering information, I will describe the properties of each superfood from what it says on the bags. These powders are from the Navitas brand and all of them are freeze-dried fruit that I am guessing has been blended into a powder.  The Goji and Pomegranate powder when left sitting in open air tend to stick together almost like a chunk of clumped sugar.

The Goji powder is a Himalayan superfood used in Asian herbal medicine for over 5,000 years.  It is rich in Vitamin A (beta-carotene) Goji has been known to contain over 20 trace minerals and vitamins.

The Pomegranate powder is a Persian superfood and is one of the oldest known fruits.  It contains potent amounts of antioxidants making this one a strong free-radical fighter, providing added protection against cellular damage.

The Acai powder is an Amazonian superfood native to tropical the floodplains and South America.  Acai is also loaded with antioxidants.  As you can see from the bits I have described from the packages, this combination packs an antioxidant punch.

I plan on spending a lot of time soaking up the sun so I will need all the protection I can get.  This mask turned out like a standard clay mask and to be frank, it smelled like canned tomato sauce.  With all of the antioxidant rich qualities, I got past the smell.

Have a safe holiday, an amazing weekend, and make it a great day!!
